De Dollard Route

The Dollard Route is a beautiful cycling and walking route along the border of the Netherlands and Germany. The route circles the Dollard, a special sea inlet of the Wadden Sea, and takes you through the unique landscape of Groningen and East Frisia.

Along the way, you will enjoy wide dikes, salt marshes, birdwatching spots, historic harbour towns and picturesque villages. The route also passes nature reserves with rare birds, seals and special plants.

The Dollard Route is about 180 kilometres long and suitable for recreational cyclists, road cyclists and walkers. You can choose day stages or explore the entire route over several days.

Along the route you will find cosy cafés, accommodation and interesting museums. The Dollard Route is a perfect way to actively and peacefully explore the border region between the Netherlands and Germany.
