Discover the unspoilt nature on the Hondsrug Drenthe and the monumental village of Orvelte. On the way to the green village of Zuidlaren you will cycle through the Drentsche Aa, a landscape, that still looks like it did a century ago. At former camp Westerbork you will experience an impressive silence. The routes will also lead you around the Paterswoldsemeer and the Zuidlaardermeer.

You will start in Ees, on the Hondsrug in Drenthe, where you can enjoy nature and peace. On day 2 you will make a beautiful tour through forestry Schoonloo and the tourist Westerbork. The route will also lead you through the beautiful monumental village of Orvelte.

Via the characteristic village of Borger (with the megalith center), the route (day 3) will take you to Zuidlaren. This place at the Zuidlaardermeer, is located on the border of Drenthe and Groningen. This is clearly visible when you leave the village. In westerly direction it remains wooded, in easterly directing you will increasingly enter a landscape with many views. The beautiful scenic area De Drentse Aa offers a rich flora and fauna.

During the tour from Zuidlaren you will cycle around the Zuidlaardermeer and the Paterswoldsemeer, past numerous estates and manors and through the beautiful scenic areas on the border of the provinces of Drenthe and Groningen.

On day 5, you will cycle through an age-old landscape back to Ees; a colourful patchwork of forests and small heaths. In forestry Hooghalen, radio telescopes have been set up in the quiet zone over a length of approx. 1,5km, that scientifically investigate the universe. You can also visit the Camp Westerbork Memorial Centre.
